About Me
This is usually the spot where people start talking about themselves in the third person. I’ve always felt a little weird about doing things like that, so instead how about I just tell you a little about myself?
I attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY from 2001-2003 while majoring in Computer Science. I quickly realized that I was not getting the experience that I hoped for and returned to my home in Connecticut and gained some management experience over the next year. In 2005, I graduated at the top of my class from Porter & Chester Institute with a technical degree in Information Technology & Networking.
After an 8 year career in IT Support, I realized that being good at something shouldn’t mean being chained to it. I made the choice to pursue my passion of web development and began freelancing before obtaining a full-time position with a start-up software company. In 2015, I took a chance to relocate to South Carolina and soon became the User Experience Developer for one of the largest churches in the state.

Skills and Passions
Skills and Passions
HTML5 | CSS3 | Javascript
The basis of all modern web development. Not having these skills as a backbone of all development is like not properly supporting your building before you put the walls up and do the painting. I try to keep myself on top of not only the latest abilities of each of these languages (CSS3 is still the best thing to happen to webdev possibly ever), but also constantly strive to be more efficient in all three.

Minimalist Design
Some of you might be thinking to yourself that this site in general is a little on the plain side. That’s on purpose. I believe that far too often, people mistake flashy transitions and good graphics for good user experience. Design should be for a purpose, not simply for the sake of a design. This site was designed to communicate my work and skills, nothing more.

User Experience
Beyond the backbone of any website or app, you then have to think about how your users will actually, you know, use it. To go back to the house example, a nice coat of paint and great landscaping won’t mean much if the owner can’t find the front door or the bathroom. Good user experience is all about knowing your audience and divining how they plan on using your product. If someone has to learn?how to use what you have built, you’re already heading in the wrong direction.

Search Engine Optimization
It doesn’t matter how much work you’ve put into the previous steps, if no one can find your website, it won’t matter. Unless you plan on using only word of mouth for marketing (which I wouldn’t recommend), setting up your site for maximum discoverability should be a priority.?SEO also can’t be a one time thing, as search engines constantly change their algorithms. 94% of people never make it past the first page of search results, so why would you ignore them?

Web Analytics
So your site is up and you’ve made sure people can find it. Now what? Paying attention to your web traffic and where it is coming from is an important part of the continued growth of your business or brand. You wouldn’t close your eyes while you are driving, so why fly blind when it comes to your website? Analyzing what works, what doesn’t, and how you can improve yourself regardless is an important step for sustainability.
